The historic estate's lower levels
Following the mainstage performance, guests are invited to explore the mansion itself, where live music, puppetry, interactive characters and theatrical surprises fill the historic estate's lower levels. This is not a sit-and-watch room: it is a walk-through story, with performers and characters around every turn.
- Live music throughout the rooms
- Puppetry and theatrical surprises
- Interactive characters to meet
- A genuine historic mansion as the stage
The venue
A genuine historic mansion
Callanwolde Fine Arts Center is a nonprofit community arts center in Atlanta's Druid Hills neighborhood, housed in a Tudor and Gothic Revival mansion at 980 Briarcliff Road NE. The estate was built around 1920 for Charles Howard Candler of the Coca-Cola Company, designed by architect Henry Hornbostel, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. For JOIE, the rooms, courtyard, and grounds become the stage, and the lower levels host this stop’s music, puppetry, and theatrical surprises.
The fuller venue story, including the visiting guide to Callanwolde, lives on the JOIE overview page.

From the producer
“JOIE is built for families and adults alike. It brings together spectacle, humor, music, movement and surprise within one of Atlanta’s most beautiful historic properties. Our goal is to establish JOIE as one of the city’s signature annual holiday traditions.”
