The music town
Live Music in Athens
Athens is one of the most famous music towns in America, and the venues are still the point: small rooms, loud nights, and a calendar that runs year-round.
The venues below are real and open; lineups change weekly, so check the club's own calendar before you go.

The history
Why the town is famous for music
R.E.M., the B-52's, and Widespread Panic all came out of these rooms, and the town still treats a band on a Tuesday night as the normal way to end a day. The classic Athens night is a small venue, a local opener, and a walk home through downtown.
The honest note
Check the lineup before you go
Lineups and ticket links change weekly. The honest move is to check the venue's own calendar, then the Athens events page for what has cleared the verification check.
