Alpharetta is the North Fulton tech town that built a walkable core, and its best days mix the big mixed-use districts with the greenway that runs through them. Every entry here is a real place, open to the public.

1. Avalon

The 86-acre open-air district at GA 400 and Old Milton Parkway, with the shopping, the fountain plaza, restaurants, and a movie theater. Free concerts run on the lawn through the warm months.

2. Downtown Alpharetta and the Town Green

The city green at the corner of Main and Milton anchors the walkable downtown, with the children's play fountain and the restaurant and shop row on Old Roswell and Main.

3. Alpharetta Farmers Market

Saturday mornings on the Town Green from spring through fall with more than a hundred vendors of produce, meats, flowers, and baked goods. The City of Alpharetta hosts it, so its page carries the season.

4. Big Creek Greenway

The paved multi-use trail runs roughly nine miles along Big Creek from Union Hill to Mansell Road, connecting parks and districts on the way. It is the city's best free hour.

5. Ameris Bank Amphitheatre

The outdoor amphitheater in the park at the north end of the greenway hosts the biggest touring acts on the road. Sold-out nights turn the whole park into a tailgate.

6. Wills Park

Alpharetta's largest park with the pool complex, ball fields, tennis, an 18-hole disc golf course, playgrounds, and the equestrian center. It does everything.

7. Webb Bridge Park

The community park on the south side holds the Alpharetta Arboretum, a quiet tree walk a step off the suburban roads.

8. Union Hill Park

The greenway's north anchor off Windward Parkway with a skate park, a covered rink that hosts concerts, and trail access. The Home by Dark summer series is the draw.

9. North Point Mall

The two-level regional mall on the city's west side with the department store anchors, the food court, and the dine-in theater. It is the covered-shopping answer to Avalon.

10. The restaurant row

Smokejack, Rumi's Kitchen, Village Tavern, and Efendi carry the dining shift across town, with Halcyon adding a second district on the county line.
