Snellville is a suburban Gwinnett city about thirty minutes east of Atlanta, and most of its best days start at the Towne Green. The city center keeps everything within walking distance: the civic lawn, the farmers market in season, and the Grove at Towne Center mixed-use district built beside it.
The Towne Green and The Grove at Towne Center
The Towne Green is the city square in front of City Hall on Oak Road, with the sundial, the veterans memorial, and the market stalls through the warm months. The Grove at Towne Center, beside it, adds a central green, a food hall, a Gwinnett County library branch, and a concert lawn that carries the city's event calendar through the year.
T.W. Briscoe Park
Briscoe is the flagship city park on Sawyer Parkway, roughly 95 acres with a 1.2-mile paved trail around the perimeter, a fishing lake, a pool in season, playgrounds, tennis courts, and a community garden. It hosts the Snellville Days festival and stays the dependable family answer every weekend.
The county parks
- Lenora Park south of the city: fields, playgrounds, and open space on the county side.
- Bethesda Park west on Scenic Highway: the county sports park and event grounds a short drive out.
- South Gwinnett Park: a lakeside county park with a pool, near the hospital side of the city.
Stone Mountain Park sits about ten minutes west of Snellville, so the granite mountain, the hiking trails, and the summit tram are the default big outing. The parks roundup for the towns on the Walton line carries the wider county loops.
